      Dual overhead cam locking tool?

Need to replace the timing belt and having a tool to hold the cams in place would be excellent. I know they exist but don't know which one is right for our 07 chevy aveo LT

I’m not sure if there are any good tools out there for the REALLY TIGHT space between the cams on the 1.6L. Someone else might chime in if I’m wrong.....

You dont need it, you just have to hold a cam with a wrench when you reinstall timint belt to make sure you like gears up correctly and are facing correctly.

Do both cams have to be held at the same time?

It’s best to clamp the belt to each sprocket with its own clamping tool.

Could you send a picture of what you are talking about? I have replaced timing belts before on larger engines that were just beaters so I didn't care if things weren't right, but this is my wife's work car, so all the extra info is not wasted on me. Promise. Thank you!

Use vice grips between the belt and cam gear. Make sure not to use them too tight. You don’t want to ruin the belt, or cam gear.

Sorry. I don't understand when I should clamp
From memory replacing a DOHC that uses a belt goes in these steps.

      1. Take all the front parts off so we can work with the belt.
      2. Mark the cam gears with a line from either gear to a spot on the engine
      3. take the belt off
      4. jump as the cam gears spring rotating into an undesired position
      5. place the new belt on one cam
      6. rotate that cam so that the line on the gear lines up with the line on the engine we made earlier
      7. rotate the second cam gear so that it's line corresponds with it's alignment line we made earlier
      8. place the rest of the belt onto the system.

This process took three people to do on a Mitsubishi Montero. Probably an 09 or something.

like this on both cams. Tighten belt then remove clamps.

Will the cam gears rotate when I take the old belt off?
