Why would you waste your money? If I'm not mistaken, it actually burns hotter then regular fuel...you're just at the pump more for cheaper gas?

i always thought you couldnt but apparently you can.
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.
It produces less energy than regular gasoline therefore, you need more of it to do the same amount of work. You end up almost breaking even at the pump.Originally Posted by Ron-E-Babe

So when you are just cruising around, your computer will auto adjust to the E-85. But the minute you floor it, it goes out of open loop, you are going to be ****ed.Originally Posted by mikedudley17
do you mean closed loop? apparently, peeps in europe were/are doing it. there is a kit you can buy to make it so it does work. i dunno what the kit does tho or what is in it to make it work.
i myself, dont promote the use of e85 in our motors. just trying to present what others have said.

my question was more of a curiosity. i have no e85 stations anywhere near me. my 2002 suburban is flex fuel capable, but 2004 aveo is not? anyway from what i understand e85 is cheaper but its 101 octane, costs less, fuel mileage goes down a couple of points, and burns quicker. i cant see the "benefit" in this type of fuel. what is this fuel supposed to do for us then? heres a link to a website.

e85 in a vehicle equipped to use the fuel to its fullest capacity will use it more efficiently. in a car thats not fully equipped to use it, it will not be as efficient and like others have stated, it will pretty much balance out at the pump. thats all there is to it. e85 is not as glamorous as the gascompanies like to make it out to be. the only way it will benefit everybody and be "glamorous" is if all cars were able to accept and use to the fullest capacity te e85. we have some stationsaround here that sell e85 and i myself have been temted to get it, but the benefits dont outweigh the risks/wear and tear on my vehicle to warrrant its use. it would have to be under 2.00/gal for me to want to use it, and with the way that its made currently, i dont forsee that happening.
as for it being a question of curiosity, dont worry, im sure its crossed the minds of many people who are tempted by its lower price.Originally Posted by NYChevoo
