Just wanted to do an update of that last few things that I have gotten done on the car. The first thing was setting up the hoses for the heater core. I was able to use some extras hoses that I had laying around that belong to 93 firebird. As you can see it looks like they were meant to be their, I put a heat sleeve on one of the hoses because it is a bit close to the exhaust.
One of the problems that need to be solve is with the thermostat housing being too close to the master brake cylinder. What I plan to do is to cut the nipple off and thread the housing and put on a 90 degree threaded barb.
The last thing that I got done that really looks bad ass is the installation of the Brembo brakes. These are the upgraded brakes that were available for the 2008 Cobalt SS. They bolt right up, the only thing is that you will need to use the brake hose for the Aveo. The hose from the Cobalt will not work correctly and the one from the Aveo works out just fine, by the way the rotor is 12.4 inches in size.
This last picture is of the coil-over setup just is anyone wanted to see it.
she is so sexy!!! nice!!!!
Did the Coil-Over boly right on or was there mods to be made?
This will not fit a stock Aveo the struts are from a Chevy Cobalt and the coil-over kit is a Ground Control set for a Chevy Cavalier. The knuckle is also from a Cobalt so this is not a bolt on modification you will have do some mayor mods to make this setup work.
Just wanted to post the pics of the wheels with the Brembo brakes on the car, I think they loop pretty good.
This is the latest update for the progress on the Aveo LSJ transplant, I installed a DC header that I got for Horepowerfreaks.com. One thing that I did not like about the header is that collector is only two inches in diameter they could have made it a bit bigger to to match the 2.5 inch flange for the down pipe.
The next thing on the list was to construct a down pipe from the flange to the rest of the exhaust. This was no easy task, there are a bunch of little twist a and turns that had to be done to make this happen below are some of the pieces that needed to be welded together.
Listed below are the pieces welded together and the flange attached, this took me a good part of the day by the time that the down pipe was done.
This picture listed below is of the installed down pipe, I have not installed the cat and finished burning the rest of the exhaust in because I am waiting on some stainless flanges to come in so the work can be completed. The exhaust system is 2.5 in stainless all the way back.
Very nice work.
I can't even explain how impressive this is... Great to see it coming along!
what are you using for an engine management system? It looks like you have the factory stage II pulley? Do you have the stage II fuel injectors? I have a 2006 LSJ with stage II system that I will be transplanting into a 1986 Lotus esprit (for a mid engine application) and am trying to understand what my options may be for controlling the engine
thanks
