Still without this ECU tune...
Still without this ECU tune...
You guys must be really unlucky lol, I think both posts I saw about contacting Vince he was on vacation at those times. I've got a tune on my 2010 however and it is a completely different car since. Had the tune for about a year, no issues, and only praise for it. Definitely more power, much better throttle response, higher top speed and better acceleration. The list goes on! Lol
Did you have it dyno'd before and after?
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
Can someone enlighten me on how this tune "really" works? I mean I have the 1.6 Automatic with a bunch of bolt-ons and wanted to see what it would be like tuned.
Or does anyone know where I can go around columbus ohio to get it tuned? Is it worth the cost?
its a remap of the ecu.. the ecu runs a program the runs the engine, this is a new program.
trifecta has dealers around, not sure about columbus. I am also not sure about the cost, but in a VW the cost is typically @$500 for 3 programs (dealer oem, the tune and a valet with rev limit), the tunes are usually worth it when you look at HP to $..
If you have a 09+, then it will work. It is just a ECU type of tune, it re-flashes the computer to put out more power. On the 04-08, this tune will not work, you would have to have a custom one done of which you will win the lottery before you get a custom tune.
Edit: Rabbit beat me to it
Darn lol I have the 2005 sooo I guess it's out of the question. I was looking at trying myself with a tuner system from HPTuners.com (My buddy and I were going to go in on one) but they said the Aveo's use some odd-ball PCM that they decided they would not support.
There is one guy in Columbus his company is called DynoTune that has ecotec engines listed. So I may see what he says about it. The cost is $350 for the tune. I will give him a call and keep you guys updated.
Well just got off the phone with the guy and he told me there is no way... then I told him someone said they could tune it and the first thing he mentions... "It's not trifecta is it?" lol. Anyway he said my best bet would be to see if I could get a cobolt ECU to work on the aveo. Not sure what kind of under-taking that would be re-pin a car. So I guess I need to do some more investigation. Any thoughts from the gallery?
Win the lottery like I said
Then you can buy a faster car
I had a thread abut a tune that should work on the earlier engines. It was for a captiva? or something. but was available to tuners throughout the us, it had "some" risk, but i said for the guinea pig to buy a spare ecu and tune that, so if it didnt work, you swap ecus back and your good.
