Angry Electrical conductor preventing me from removing valve cover

There is an electrical connector on the left side of the engine which goes over my valve cover, I do not know what it does. But the wires are very brittle due to the heat and years of driving on my 07 Aveo. I cant just pull the connecter of either by it's plastic base. Any recommendations on what to do. I cant see if there are any grooves or special places I have to push in to remove this connector.

Bit of a old post, but it came up when I was searching for the same thing while getting ready to do my valve cover.

To disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector, you simply press the little wire on the side in towards the body of the connector and pull the connector, which came free very easily on mine. When I reconnected it I just pushed the connector on and it snapped into place.
