Ask anyone with a Cobalt SS how well the solid metal brackets stand up to the Tq. The only 2 people I have know to use them have bent the metal brackets. It was with more power than an Aveo, but that is why I said it is "normally" worse.

      Re: Engine Damper

I think it looks good man...... how much did you pay for it ? What was required to modify it ? Is it welded to the top of the stock mount piece? I am also interested in doing something like that.

Engine dampers are nice to hold the motor more firmly in place, my friend with a Cobalt SS has one and it definitely makes a difference - less engine movement, quicker and easier shifts, and less wheel hop. The problem arises when you try to use them to dampen too much torque..... or to say another way, when your stock mounts are way too soft so that the dampener takes all the force. Also I don't think that the power a non-boosted Aveo puts out is going to bend the bracket, unless it is very poor quality.

i would think i would want a piece to "turn" the round part of the mount. it looks like there is just a "rod" going into the mount that the engine could swing on like a hinge. i think it would be better to have two points of "contact" to help eliminate torsion. but have them solid within the mount, and not as a shock.
that is just me. once it is warm i'm going to actually look under my hood (for more than just putting in more washer fluid) to see how everything is actually mounted.

Not much unless your running enough HP to make it beneficial.
obviously you havent seen how bad the aveo's engine torques...i need one of these with my new intake because it yanks on it

that is true, my aveo ate through the intake pipe when i had the cold air intake
Its more fun to drive a slow car fast, rather than drive a fast car slow!

      Re: Engine Damper

i still say its in the design of the mounts. they look like the engine is sitting on hinged pins.. putting all the engine torque stress on the dogbone..

its pretty solid within the tube. Not like a shock absorber. its like almost solid bar.

There is two metal bar stainless steel welded to the round engine mounting if you notice. The two pt is quite close. Cant find a better place. Maybe I am not creative enough. Hehe...

So what modifications did you actually have to make to get it to work?
