that high of a pitch sounds like a lifter. what kind of oil are you using? whats the level? and change it often?

There is no dought that is a bad lifter, if you where low on oil you would have more than one lifter tapping. If you decide to change it out I would do all of them while you have the it apart.

Yes this is what you need to replace, you are going to have to take both of the cams off to replace the lifters. It might also be a good idea if you have not allready replaced the timing belt and water pump to do it while you are doing this work.

the hot rod guy is right, but tearing down an engine for a lifter tick if its running right, and noise isnt getting worse might not be fully necessary. It is the right repair, but you could pull the valve cover to clean and "hydrate" the lifters (then drain the change the oil). Not a procedure you can pay for, as mechanics will fix it the right way. But its a trick ive learned trying to "test" run old engine that have been sitting that have hydraulic lifters.

Hey the ticking is coming from the intake manifold does that still mean its the lifters? or could it be something else?

it might sound like it is coming from the intake, if you want to localize the sound use a mechanic stethoscope to find the sound. If you do not have one use a piece of hose and put it to your ear. I am sure if you open up the oil fill cap and it the hose their it will sound the loudest. If that is the case it is most likely your lifters.
