Ebay cold air intake with mushroom filter and cherry bomb pro muffler with hks 4in tip I love how mine sounds.

An intake for sure adds some throat in the lower RPM range. I don't have an exhaust.
Straight pipe the muffler :D It's easy. A foot of pipe and clamps cost like 15 bucks at NAPA. Gutting the intake box and removing the pipe inside the fender adds a throaty tone. Leave the cat and all the other exhaust stock and it'll sound like the average loud import.

Lolwut... I dont believe having no muffler is illegal (at least in my state), no cop would ever get on the ground to check, and you very well could call our resonator a muffler...Quote:

Exactly.... I read in the Off Road mags about this very topic and they went over the specific rules and laws of every state and California is the only one which has numbers and decibel levels to cross the line into illegal. Every other state goes by what that Cop's opinion at that moment if he thinks it's too loud.Quote:

I've had many many other vehicles and none of them had cats or mufflers after the first few days in my garage. I've also never got pulled over in them....
My Aveo has a hollow cat and no muffler, stock pipes. The O2 sensor in upstream of the cat so the computer doesn't realize it's not there. Just lets the motor exhale easier. Over a year in San Diego, the drive home and almost 2 years in Alaska. Never seen flashers in my mirrors..... I also started recording better Fuel Millage numbers after I fixed the exhaust and it sounds pretty throaty when I step on it and roll down my windows so I can hear it...
My car sounds awesome like a real racing car with no hp lol. I went to my local custom muffler shop told them i wanted something loud and to make my nabors mad. they hooked me up really cheap. that was just a muffler. im getting my resonator removed and putting a straight pipe on. i also recommend a ram air intake over a cold. 1 price difference. 2 cold air intakes make no noise because the air takes longer to get to the engine. I really need a get a video up of how amazying my car sounds. even if im just cleaning the car i crank it up and let it idle just to lesson to my beast.
to help not get introuble with haveing no muffler leave it on your car but just not connected. boom you have a muffler hahaha.
My aveo was way too quiet for my liking with no muffler. I have never experienced such a strange thing. It was barely louder with no muffler. Compared to my 96 lumina with a quarter sized rust hole in the muffler that was loud as ****. Although with my 2" straight pipe the aveo is now much louder
