Finally going to turbo my 2011 aveo5 lt

I have done research and double and triple checked different compressor maps and have listened to groaning from different mechanics " just buy a turbo engine or why are you going to turbo that" and decided it was time to venture out into the world of turbo just to show what motivation can do. After talking to a few tuners and getting floored by some of the prices I ran across a book on here and thought why not pick it up. Maximum Boost by Corky Bell has been the best thing I have bought to help in my quest for boost. After reading the book and scrapping all plans I started fresh and came up with what should be the perfect setup to use 99% of stock parts on the engine without blowing it up lol. I went to the local pull a part and snagged a k03 off a vw passat ( compressor map showed avg of 71% efficiency with a peak of 75% ) and now begins the quest of going turbo. I am going to post pics of the parts I get so others may play along if they wish. I will answer as many questions as I can along the way too. Goals for the finished build are 7psi at the manifold with af ratio @ 12. Most of the hot side i will fabricate myself and could possibly make for others based on how much of a PIA it will be. Crossing my fingers to have all parts and have it running by late spring early summer.

Keep us posted, we know it takes time, I am extremely interested in the tuning aspect. I ve left over turbo parts from past cars Ive tuned but I am not familiar with the OBD II ecu system. I personally would not use a stand alone ECU for a street car. In the past piggybacking with apex s afc's has sufficed for my projects, but once again I have the fear of the ecu overriding the piggyback n destroying the block. All in all best of luck n keep us informed on the successes n failures

I do plan on eventually wireing in a greddy emanage ultimate but that will be after building the forged monster lol in stock trim tho I should only have to swap the fuel pump and pressure regulator and spark plugs since I'm only going for low boost the stock injector setup should hold up and if I have this figured correct the ecu should extend the injection pulse so that with a slight increase in fuel pressure should work. Between the junk yard and eBay I hope to have all parts within the next cpl of months can't wait to get started

U might wanna check out an injector upgrade possibly off a sonic or cobalt 2.2 so ur aveo injectors arent maxed out. Good luck I hope it works for some reason aveo owners are hesitant to boost. With a basic tune n light boost these cas should be a blast to drive.

funny you should mention the 2.2 that was what I was just looking at since the stock injectors will be at almost full capacity... with enough flow I should be able to go as high as 9-10 psi as long as I can keep it from detonation. I am looking for donor cars in the junk yard to see what else I can swap... if the cobalt or sonic is drive by wire there may be a chance to use the throttle body may have to make adaptor plate but thats part of the fun right.

Fresh batch of donor cars at the junkyard so a trip to get the fuel rail assembly with harness from the cobalt is in order might as well get the ecu and injectors to be friends

come to find out with our engines we don't have many options for injectors so I am going to continue with the stock ones for now and add a 2nd set in possibly later in the intake with the pieces on top that look prime for injector install. I am putting my shopping list up so if yall wanna play along ya know what all will be involved too.
