      Re: flooded engine!

The same thing happened to me in a 96 Chrysler Concorde (stock air filter) driving threw a large puddle. I was told that the engine was seized.

You should really contact your insurance provider if you haven’t yet.
Manitoba Public Insurance swaped my whole engine as part of my claim. I know your insurance might be different but you should still contact them to at least find out for sure.

DANG! Still can figure out why my code reader wont link to my car. Wondering if theres something hookup wrong. I check everything over 3 times. Must be missing something.

      Re: flooded engine!

Flashing check engine light indicates a misfire (or what the computer thinks is a misfire). The code generally reads something along "Misfire in one or more cylinders" or something equally as cryptic. This is tricky to diagnose, because if the o2 sensor is bad, it could just be sending back incorrect data that the computer interprets as a misfire.

If you smell gas from the exhaust it could be something as simple as a plug wire not being seated correctly.

If not the ignition system, in my experience it's usually the upstream o2 sensor sending bad data to the computer.

bet its the timing if the timing was done and it is off it will idle wrong and eventually the belt will come off of the cam. becareful we got interferance motors here. that timing belt snaps bye bye motor internals.

more than likely make sure the timing was done right

there is no way to time these cars other than the proper alignment of the timing belt right?

      Re: flooded engine!

I got a Question? If the cam and crank sensors have been apart for awhile, do they have to be resynced together?

      Re: flooded engine! (update)

      Ok,
Everything is good. Car runs great. It was the timing, one tooth off. The flashing check engine light was the cam and crank sensors. They where apart to long, had to be synced togther. (relearned).

The only thing having problem with is the airbag light. It stays on, doesnt go off.

Thanks so much for helping me with my car guys. It was the first time Ive ever disassembled and reassembled a engine.
