Automatic Transmissions are a whole new animal. Infact, from what I heard from a guy that works for a Chevy dealer, the Automatic Flywheels is more than likely the lighter of the two, with pre-drilled holes and slots to keep the weight down and stress off of the pisspoor transmission.
But what if a lighter automatic one could be made...Originally Posted by Keiji22

That's kinda what I was thinking. But my mechanist said he can make lightened flywheels for us, just need to get someone's to look at so he can give me a dollar estimate, but he said he could do itOriginally Posted by AVE0SAM
Lol. My automatic sucks complete donkey dung. I didn't want the Aveo to begin with, quite honestly. My dad bought it because my Buick Skyhawk threw a rod after my ex-girlfriend bumped the gearstick into neutral after I shifted but still had the clutch in... I hit the gas hard, and my engine had such a short stroke that it pegged the needle and blew right then and there. My Firebird was a manual. Before I got rid of that rusty body. I still have the Chevy 350(S/C and Injected) from it. Needless to say... I much more prefer a stick than automatic...
Thats why I requested a 6-speed manual from Audacity...
i used to have a fidanza flywheel in my matrix.....7.5lbs vs 13lbs stock
its a little more challenging to be smooth in city driving, but to be honest, the first time i drove it with the light fly, my car felt like it dropped 500lbs....itd run to 8350 so damn quick in 1st.....i loved it
im sure a lighter fly would be great in an MT aveo.....get rid of some rotating mass, etc....
also, i dynoed with a flywheel too.....not differences in hp, but in 3rd gear id hit redline about .75-1s. faster than another xrs with the same mods (except fly)
the manual tranny may not be ideal, but i raced my buddy's manual lanos and I only lost by half a car length. With a few simple mods I'd take him. He had a CAI at the time, now I do I might wait until I get a few more and take him down.
which model lanos?
damn i want a lighter flywheel
