hmm.....is there a way to calculate compression ratio with a thinner gasket? im thinking of getting the thinnest one you have which is the .030, also, is there any danger of the piston hitting the valves with the thinner head gasket and higher cp pistons?
yes, most piston manufacturers have a calculator on their site but you have to know ALL the specs. for the ones you don't know look HERE or HERE.Quote:

I'll get you the money by the deadline.
i as well, just waitin on school still...
you have me on the list right gse?
g0ast, 8.5:1, 79.0mm ?
xstevex, 10.5:1, 79.0mm
khan4rtist, 10.5:1, 79.0mm
mikedudley, 8.5:1, 79.0mm ?
aveosssupercharged, 8.5:1 79mm
AS AN ADDED INSENTIVE... I'll give the Cometic MLS head gaskets at a better than ever price!
.030, .036, .040, .045, .051 and .051 thick...retail price $95.00, DAE price $87.00, WITH PISTONS $75.00
.065 thick...retail price $110.00, DAE price $95.00, WITH PISTONS $85.00
Noob question again, what do head gaskets do again?
And what is the importance of the thickness?
Well as you know it's the gasket between the head and block.
An MLS head gasket is stronger than the OE type and will resist blow out from high compression and turbo applications
The true pupose of the different thicknesses is so that you can have the head or block shaved and maintain the original specs.
Some people use the different thicknesses to dial in the comression ratio to sizes that aren't typically available with the pistons (ie: 10.75:1 instead of 10.5 or 11.0). That takes a tone of math and unless you are strictly racing it's more work than needed.
Some people try to drop or raise their compression with just the gasket (thicker gasket=lower compression, thinner gasket=higher compression).
The only thing about this is it does change the CR but not as much or as correctly as pistons.
By using a gasket alone to change compression ratio you affect the "Squish Band" where pistons do not.
here is a link to explain the "Squish Band"
still waitin on school...
Sorry to have to pass the fees along but for orders processed though Paypal have and additional $16.00.
Other methods are accepted such as certified check, personal check and credit cards taken over the phone or by email. Check would need to be made out to Daft Art Engineering.
garrett
may be a dumb question but are these available in low compression im waiting on some to have my turbo manifold done and then i have everything i need to do the turbo would be nice to be able to run a few more pounds
8.5 will be good for you.Quote:

PS: I got a confirmation call yesterday that the sets that are paid for have been started and with any luck they may be available a bit sooner than expected, no promises.
any updates on them?
All is well I have the rest of the parts that where ordered (gaskets, ARP's...) just waiting on delivery of the pistons. the charge went through a couple days back and Wiseco usually wait 'till the order goes out to collect so they must be done or close to.
