I have seen several pistons with holes in them but still connected to the con rods.

In my Probe I blew a rod and threw it out the front of the block. When we tore her apart to see what happened, the Piston was a little chipped but otherwise fine. I blew 4 holes total in the block. One in the front (quarter-size), one in the rear (about the size of a toilet paper roll), one in the crank pulley side (quarter-size), and one in the bell housing for the tranny (about the size of my fist). The rod was hanging in the bellhousing a completely shredded 12 teeth on my flywheel... Thank god for the AutoZone warranty heh...

Anyone know if 91 (93 in the US) octane will be good enough for 10.5 compression ratio? or will an additive be necessary?
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

91 will be fine, I'm almost willing to say 87 will be fine. keep in mind that nearly all honda motors come with 10.5:1 and higher compression.

You guys cant just assume that since a honda does it, we can too. Those cars are tuned for it from the factory.

that is true to an extent. their fuel systems are a bit different but from what I gather in the question, it's more or a general question if running mid grade will cause detination with higher compression. to that the answer is no.

however, like i've recommended to a couple members, internals are a big deal and having a piggyback installed if not a stand alone would be well worth it even if no other mods are done.

There is more than just fuel grade in question. You are going up in compression and keeping all the timing the same. How will it not cause a problem.
