Help with 06 whine noise after timing belt install

I don'thot know these cars very well I'm used to working on larger boosted engines but my sister was worried about the timeing belt on her aveo. So I said I would replace it for her even tho so I got the whole kit from gates and replaced it all tensioned it back up like the help thread on here said and I fired her up theres no knock or anything but its whineing now and I'm not even sure where to start. heres a video

That sounds like the same thing my 05 does since the belt change. Belt tension could be wrong but I doubt it. Maybe a bad pulley bearing. Did yours have the round water pump/tensioner and if so what did you tighten it with. There is a special wrench for that but it's expensive so I used channel locks. (it wasn't pretty but it worked.) Keep me posted if you get a good diagnosis.

Taz.....that is the sound of a over tensioned belt...don't ask me how I know..Mine lasted for about 30K until it broke...along with all 8 EX valves....I would take the timing cover off, and make sure the arrow in the tensioner is aligned...I have found that using a small mirror to view the tensioner in really helps...Shawn
