I bought my 2005 Aveo as a repo and it had several issues which are now resolved :) 37 mpg on the last tank (no freeways within 70 miles of me) :D Anyways, I would like to ascertain whether the engine is the original or swapped out. Can anyone advise me?
there Should be either a Partial or the FULL VIN that's on your dash/doorjamb stamped somewhere on the Block either on or Near the Bellhousing. (Quote:

How did the oil look when you originally got it? Chances are if the prior owner couldn't make the payments, they also didn't maintain the oil properly :(. If you determine it's the original engine, you might want to do 2 or 3 faster oil changes in an attempt to clean things up. Also (again if the original), the timing belt, WP, etc. probably hasn't been done yet, so you'll have to think about getting that done asap. Good luck with it!Quote:

Do you know where the codes are on a 2009 Aveo5 LT?
if you are talking about the RPO Codes, they are inside the Glove Box Lid. the VIN is in Various locations throughout the car, such as Stamped off center into the Firewall, on Anti-Theft labels on every major body panel, stamped on the Engine/Transmission Bellhousing towards the radiator, the RPO Label on the Glove Box Lid, the VID Label on the bottom of the Driver's side B-Pillar, and of course, riveted on the dash at the base of the windshield.Quote:
