How to make aveosam's CAI (thread underconstruction)

I emailed Summit yesterday and got a responce this morning.

"9771 will be black. The 9776 will be blue."

Not Sure on the length of these:

Will the GSR intake not work for you all?

The Acura Integra GSR 94-00 Intake might work and for $21.00 shipped it might be worth picking up.

havent tried it...but only one of the bends looks like itll work which is the one with the little tube sticking off....the problem i see with using this pipe is you dont have the piece that bends the pipe into the airbox hole...plus the pipe i use bends up a little up once thru the whole to make the filter fit otherwise the wheel well plastic wont fit back on.

The Lanos uses the GSR setup nicely... You do have to pick up an additional coupler and cut one of the tubes... but no biggie...


That was my Lanos from a looooooong time ago...

Kenny, I want one of those valve covers, so I can get one molded with the letters in it...


Or the matching Opel version of our valve cover.

Also notice that at the first 90 out of the TB how the tube rubs and bumps against the strut tower? In the Aveo there is a brace welded in there (for the factory airbox) that I think there should be a bracket welded to the CAI to bolt to.

You can sorta see it to the far left in this pic.

Those that moved on to the hard CAI did the very bracket you mention

It should work fine, though I think you'd be happier if you buy an additional coupler and clamps so that you can adjust the shape a bit better by cutting it.

You may also need a bit of work for the hole where the airbox sits. In the Lanos, it was just barely big enough for the tubing and it ended up cutting into the side of it (scarring it up). I used an exhaust pipe expander to make the hole bigger, a good shop can figure out what to do with it.
