Alright everybody now I know I will be getting alot of bashing for asking this question but the main part is the timing and ignition section were learning in class. Okay so my question is and I need who ever replys back to be straight up and answer the question (not to sound like a hard ass) but i know the future outcome of the mods. Can somebody please, please tell me what resistor is used for the IAT sensor resistor mod to advance the timing and igniton and air/fuel/spark ratio, and what would be a good resistor for the ECT(S) (engine coolant temperature)-(sensor) to alow the ECU to think the coolant is cooler than it is? I used this mod on my old 98 Ford Escort ZX2. it was known as the POTS mod meaning people wired two wires from your IAT sensor and two wires from your ECT(S) to a potentionameter to change to signal output to the sensor back to the ECU. ill tell you them things worked, but it was more of a thing to be used on track day which is exactly what i want to do so i can prove the cheap technolgy works to a degree. But please everyone tell me the correct resistors to use. thank you kindly and happy holidays
I remember seeing the black box and pots when I was looking for parts for my escort, I thought they were different from resistors, but I never looked into it more as my escort was had for a short time. Dont worry about bashing, you might get some luminas up in here but your fine lol
Whether it "works" or not, it's a bad idea to trick your computer for it to dump fuel.
Even so with more refined fuel injection it will realized the trick when the o2 is reading your running rich. And while it will not be able to adjust To accommodate the resister you put it. It will just clog your cat with is sort of the same as hydrolocking.
A $.10 resister does not do what a proper tune or another mod will.
