The only other problem is the battery just went dead over the weekend and it was over 7 years old. Just trying to keep this car going till Spring, then trading it in for a new Toyota Tacoma. I probably won't get more then $500 for it, but just want it off my hands. I paid $8,200 for this Aveo new, but the Tacoma is going to be closer to $35,000!!

I hear ya... sometimes it seems like "when it rains it pours" at least that's what it's doing with my truck... so I do have sympathy for people when they're having lots of vehicle problems.

New cars are expensive! Last year I bought my wife to the Toyota dealer and had her pick out any car she wanted, she test drove several cars and I was hoping she would of picked out a Camry which was lower priced, but she picked out a Prius V wagon instead and the price tag on that came to $31,000! My 2 Aveo's I bought new that were under $9,000 each does not come close to the price tag on the Prius!

I have been noticing the same thing with my Aveo, specifically because I bounce back and forth between driving it and my 13' Spark. The RPM's fall much too slow, causing either myself to slow down the shifts or RPM's too high for the next gear. Is it a solid bet that a new IAC would fix this? I would probably make the swap if I knew it was going to work….

The new IAC fixed mine, have not had any issues since I replaced it.

This is mine! You ever seen a Aveo with over 200,000 miles on it? Here it is! A hit a deer coming down my driveway and just straightened it out and spray painted black so it would not rust.

My 06 aveo was having same problem. I found a cracked vacuum line at the front of plastic plenum (dry rot). I replaced all the vacuum lines on front and back of plenum area. That fixed it and it runs better than ever.

That is common! Mine cracked as well, I could not find the original, so I took it Nappa and they matched it up with a rubber hose.

Thanks for reporting what fixed the idle.

I like to come back and add "SOLVED" to the thread title when people update us with a solution.
