Infamous p0300 question
I am getting the infamous p0300 random misfire code only after my new engine warms up. You folks who have done the swap, do you get this code constantly or only when your engine reaches operating temperature?
I know I need the dealer shop to to do the relearn and flash procedure but I find it strange the code only flashes when the engine is at operating temperature, is this normal?
BTW my swap purrs like a kitten so far. Thanks for all the help Aveo Forumites.

Yes i had the same thing on my moms car i swapped the motor on. It would start flashing after it was warmed up and went into closed loop. I found that the mdis scanner i used and a otc scanner could nt do the crnk relearn. I ended up taking it to a local shop with a tech2 it got rid of the p0300and flashing hold light. It also just passed CA smog.

Thanks for the response. My Aveo has run about 1500 trouble free and quiet miles since I performed the engine swap.
I am glad to hear you have had good luck with a local shop. I continually get a big run around from the shops and dealers in Las Vegas that want to perform a huge diagnostic at a minimum of two hours and charge me hundreds of dollars rather than just perform the crank relearn procedure for around $125.
I am relegated to clearing the code each time I go to get on the freeway. lol
If any Aveo-ites in Vegas have a line on a good shop that can hack this and not try to hose me please let me know.

What I did I printed out the crank relearn procedure from Mitchell ONdemand and said here do this. PM me your email if you need it and you can maybe do the same. Call around and see if any local shops have a tech2 instead of the dealer
