there a little like tab or clip thing you push in and pull it out.
The actual sensor is super glued in... it'll take some coercing to get it out.
I've read/been told you have to cut out the stock one from the intake tube. You can always just buy a new one from the dealer. That's what I did, $12 CDN.
To install on another intake, the sensor is ~1/2" in diameter and it has a little flange ~1/16" around so you can drill a 1/2" hole in a silicone coupler, jam it in there and the flange holds it on pretty good. You can always seal it in with a little silicone. The whole sensor including the flange is hard plastic, so you can't use by itself to fit into a metal intake tube, hence why I installed it on a coupler (they way Sam did with his CAI).
To install on a metal intake tube, you could buy "HELP" brand rubber grommets from Canadian Tire that are meant for PCV applications, but I'm not sure if they sell one with a 1/2" hole. I remember looking at grommets but I wasn't sure of the size of the sensor at the time I was looking so I didn't bother measuring or anything. I'm sure they do, but that means you have to drill a hole on the intake tube most likely ~3/4" to support the grommet in which the sensor will sit. The grommet themselves are flanged so they don't fall out of the intake tube.
Or you could grind off the flange on the IAT, drill a 1/2" hole on the intake tube, and silicone the sucker in there.

thinkin ill just leave the stock tubing on for now and use a small section of intake piping w/ a cone filter on the end instead of the stock airbox....

yup... just a thermistor in a housing. room temp resistance was 1.5 Kohms if I read my meter correctly (does that sound right?) if you wanted to do the "AIT chip mod" with a resistor.
Most cheap aftermarket cone filters have a 3" ID coupler. You can buy a 3" OD to 2.5" ID ~4" exhaust tube from Canadian tire that fits into the opening of the stock intake tube for $6. That's what I was using until I switched to my ghetto ABS intake.

FWIW, AEM makes a dryflow filter with a hole in the base for IAT sensors, but I don't know the hole dimensions, and the wiring for the sensor is pretty short.
the sensor is just glued in, which you can get it out by using a razorblade to cut thru the glue
NO i used pliers to pull mine out and it's a 3/4" hole when you do this make the hole on the new intake on the underside near the throttle bodyQuote:
