so would i be better off just doing a drop in k&n or buying one of these cheap "chromeintakes" off ebay

For power, you want a CAI (chromeintakes is the way to go) but for the drop in filter/SRI, you will not see much of a difference (we never really had anyone give hard numbers on MPGs for intakes/filters). I would go K&N if you want to stay stock and possibly gain a mpg or two.
you would need daox or someone more concerned with mpg to chime in here. But from my experience on an engine this small more air generally means more fuel consumed, it moves the "map" around for the sweet spot (both hp and economy) so to speak. On bigger engines giving them more air might move the sweet spot into a more common driving spot on the map yielding better mpg but not overall better economy. But imho the sweet spot on the aveo is moved to a higher rpm position, so you are giving it a lot of throttle anyhow.
the engine cruising, and just maintaining speed on the highway, the factory intake is fairly well designed.
bump want a few more inputs and what spark plugs do you guys recommend my car has just over 70k
Any plugs are fine. Copper last the shortest time, platinum next, then iridium last the longest. It all depends on if you care about when you change them next or just want to put in another set that'll last until the car is gone (iridiums last ~100k). Just don't buy into any of the gimmicky ones that say they'll get you X more horsepower or improve gas mileage.
just remember, length of time that they last is often also reflected in price.. so unless your paying for labor, there isnt actually anything wrong with sticking with coppers and changing them more often.
al right I do all my own work so unless i have to hire it done lol I just run ngk's in my Toyota was just getting some responses
I guess I'm not used to the concept of irridium lasting longer. Every vehichle I've had that actually required them for the burn would fowl them out in a couple thousand miles. That's boosted vehichles though not for daily driving. I'm in a lost world with this stuff now lol.
well i got the k&n drop in air filter and swapped it in first tank i got 30mpg over my 28 i was getting before i will tell ya what i get on this tank this is a auto also
oh nice, that is really encouraging to hear actually
