irratic idle 2004 aveo
About 2 weeks ago I moved to pa with my wife, started a new job where I have to drive 30 miles both ways. After 1 week of driving, my car started fluxuating from idle to 1500rpm. Sometinmes is will drop back down and run fine, sometimes it stayed running high. Just this moring, I seafoamed the throttle body, following the directions, and now its gotten worse. It stays from 1700 to 2000rpm and won't drop to idle. I assume its the TPS, I'm just wondering if there is a way to clean it out. I'm thinking of removing the throttle body and submerging it in throttle body cleaner. I know I've read that I can't just replace the tps, and I'd rather wait on buying a new throttle body. Any thoughts?? ' Manual trans, 04' 86k miles just had tune up.

I will check for vac leaks, but I'm pretty sure its TB related. I forgot to mention that I have no CEL and I do not have a scan guage tool.

Any help guys? Its only getting worse. If I do not push in the clutch when I slow down to a stop the rpms drop but once I put the clutch pedal down the rpms rise, then when I stop the rpms will not drop. Would my high revs have anything to do with my clutch or is it TB related?

The spark plugs were gap'ed correctly? Check your coil pack by misting it, then you can move on to TB replacement if the coil pack is okay.
You did the timing belt already?

i can recheck the plugs, but im pretty sure i gapped them correctly, and i inspected all around the coil pack, but wouldn't have thought that would be a possibility. the timing belt was done 20k miles ago by a trusted mechanic. thanks for the advice. i drove to work and the car was acting upp real bad, but then i drove back home from work this morning, and the car ran fine... maybe the seafoam worked but needed some time to knock stuff loose?? what i want to know is how should i clean the TB? instead of just spraying it, i was thinking of dunking it in a small bucket full of either seafoam or TB cleaner and letting it sit, lightly blow it out, then re-install> i dunno, i just want to go through all options before buying a new one. thanks for your input.

If the tb is dirty, then just scrub clean with a toothbrush or other small brush. Someone came on here recently and had tb issues, cleaning it did the trick.
