John Ashley Exhaust from UK (header for 09+ ecotec engine)

After 2 weeks I finally put my ecotec header on my 09aveo hatch. The headerhad top quality, nice beaded welds and inside the collector was smooth with no puddles- a sign that this guy knows his stuff. The header had to be slightly modified at the bottom to fit the flex pipe. My hatch sounds a little louder with a nice deep rumble( although I have a lil exhaust rattle under load at about 3000-3200rpm). The car seems to have gained some good #s in the mid range. I have yet to redline it as its only been on for about 5 miles.

And now for the BS.... Tried to take the car for a spin and the gas pedal seemed worthless, the car idles up n down from 1000 to 250 and wants to die. I had cold engine hesitation before but sea foam patched it for a quick fix. I finally got a CEL but Im thinkin it is a O2 or cat code. I am hoping to scan in the next day or 2. This maybe a previous problem coming to life or a header install problem. Perhaps an exhaust leak in/ or betwwen the flanges?? But heres my question- if the leak is after the 1st O2 shouldn t there be no stalling/severe hesitation. Trouble shooters n opinions r welcome

if the flow is different, then it might be learning, is the o2 sensor in the collector or is it in a single section of tube?

The O2 is in the primary (nearly the stock location) and the other right before the flex pipe(nearly stock). I am wondering if a fouler extension(Ive got vibrants adjustable version for about $30) would help on the 2nd O2. Im gunna have to pull the codes- maybe the exhaust shop banged up the second O2??? Would the 2nd O2 affect drivability?? How long should the re learn take? I have already pulled the negative terminal for ecu reset.

Thanks for the input, Rabbit, Ur point of "re learning". My car left me stranded yesterday evening. I went out this morning unhooked the battery, remo ed my jet chip, let it sit for a half hour, fired it up n let it idle for about 15 minutes, drove it for about 20 minutes with no problems. Perhaps the ecu couldn t re learn with the chip in. If all goes well after a week or so Ill pop the chip back on and see. Right now Im just hoping for no CELs other than a cat code. FOR THE LAST 20 MINUTES THIS IS THE SINGLE BEST MOD DONE ON MY AVEO. Lets hope it stays all good.

This is for the US spec ECOTEC found on 09 thru11 aveos the Euro engine code is Opel's Z16xer/Z18xer. If you have the 08-aveo I beleive the engine is the Z16xe or xep. What I did was e mail John Ashley thru his sites "contact us" I sent pictures of my exhaust gasket with a tape measure beneath for reference and it was close enough to pull the trigger. The head studs n ports matched perfect but the bottom of header flange I modified. The car ran like s*it till I pulled the negative terminal off of the battery and did the idle air control valve reset that I found on here. For the last 2 days Im all good wnjoying my daily commute. This is the best mod on these motors the entire exhaust is restrictive. Im not trying to start a great debate but it nearly seems like a stock b13 se-r( almost ). Now to try to work off the CEL- Ive got emissions every 2 years in IL
