They say ceramic paint works well to keep the cool air in and hot air out of the intake if you have a metal cold air intake piping. Are you trying to heat shield an aftermarket intake or your original one? Post some pictures of what you have ...

what serega said, ceramic or at least header (heat resistant) paint, inside and out..
I have a heat shield filter, its a cold intake in like a cone. Im gonna be using aluminum tubing as the sleeve from the filter to the engine. heres a pic of what i bought.
i have this one on my honda but its so the water that splashes in the wheel well dont get sucked up. works great!! had it for 5 years
You think it will damage the car if I leave it on for the winter. We get like -38 up here sometimes. also does anyone no anymore cheap mods i can do to the car to get more hp?? Ive looked around and searched on here but nothing. i seen the pulley idea but did he make some to buy off him>?
There's a few threads about exhaust (a little less restriction=a little more power)... a combination of intake and exhaust will give you a noticeable increase in HP... You could go ahead and order a header from xiaogary in singapore, but after the shipping and fees it's almost $400 bucks, so it doesn't necessarily qualify as cheap...

wow not looking to spend that much. Yah well so far I have the intake and i have taken off the catalyt converter to relieve some back pressure but still have the stock muffler afraid that if i take it off then I might get some attention from the cops. Itll be pretty loud no cat and turbo cherrybomb.
well, replace it with a high flow straight-thru muffler... you should be good. Install a couple of resonators (also straight through, that's what I did) and you're good to go. What did you put in place of the cat? BTW, the cat-less header does make a difference... I'm sure you'd notice some increase in power... And how do you like the smell of that exhaust now? :POriginally Posted by knucksfirst

I did not take the catalyt converter off thats on the header..... I took off the daewoo converter underneath the car about half way. I just put a straight piece of pipe to replace it.
