Hmm, I looked behind but I didn't see anything. Ahhh, what was I thinking...too much work, I'll just buy some HID Projectors and cut a hole in the factory cover! I think I just had an epiphany or something.
Farthest North Aveo: Fairbanks, Alaska
I wasn't thinking of a CAI, because of my experience with one on a 1997 crapalier I had.
1st off...It didnt do a thing for the car performancewise...BUT...that engine only had 8 valves and a lame but reliable 'in the block' cam... It sounded like a wheezing sowing machine when revved past 4k.
Then came the day that I accidentally went into (hydroplaned on a curve) some deeper than usual water...the engine instantly hydrolocked as the CAI sucked in water faster than Sprite though a Burgerking straw on a 90 degree day.
This Aveo tho... This here, is an engine that have some rev-ability. I'm inclined to believe the claims that you can feel it's benefit in the seat of your pants.
I bet free'ing up the exhaust works mint with addition of a CAI.
I'm still weary tho that there will be the odd chance of me forgetting about the CAI, and possibly driving through some standing water...(say after a major downpour) (rains here alot)
thats too deep, and hydrolocking the engine again.
But then again, what are the chances... and heck...how many miles do I think I'm gonna get out of this car? I might as well use it up and have fun doing it right?
I might have to try again. After I unloaded 4150 for the Cavvy kit, only to be totally disapointed, I told myself "never again".
..well, hmm. maybe one more time..
for about $30? you can by a hydro-lock bypass filter. it replaces the silicone coupler, where the short ram would end. and if the filter is in water, the "flaps" open it the cai acts as a short ram.
i think i'm convinced i don't want CAI for a while. I may just find an extra stock air box lid and cut a hole in it. that way i can swap it back and forth. that should be good enough and i don't "think" there would be any problems with that?

damn this thread took off! Yes wolf posted a pic of my balling CAI and yes it is still for sale.
Just please everyone stay away from the cheap plastic Spectre intake that can be bought at about any auto store. That thing heat soaks so bad and it's junk, cheaply made and poor material
i know right! i'm lovin this site! one of the best finds i've made...
