      Re: K&N Air Filter

i know, i researched this subject a great deal and found that the filter has to be pretty much submerged to take in the water, and mine is right next to the hole (pipe is shorter?) so im not worried about it unless im driving through a flash flood

i would just buy one to get rid of the ugly coupler

its not the filter that has to get wet, the end of the pipe need to go in the water. you can have all but the top inch of filter in the water, and if the pipe is not submerged it will still draw air.. moist air, but air.

the bypass is when vacuum get to high throw the cai. its flaps open and you essentially have a ram air until the "restriction" is gone.. you can test it by putting you hand (or something)over the lower intake opening and hear/see the bypass go to work.

So you wouldn't do it to prevent hydro-locking, but you would spend $50 bucks for it as a "coupler replacement"? You can do a lot of "right things for the wrong reason".

lol it doesnt matter to me really, that coupler really is ugly though, hydrolocking is the least of my worries when i look at where the filter is

      Re: K&N Air Filter

This may sounds like a strange question, but here it is.

I ordered a CAI from Ebay. I haven't received it yet but was looking at the pictures here and was wondering how you get the filter into the wheel well.... From the pics it looks like the hole that you insert the CAI tube into is too small to fit the filter through.... or is it?

      Thanks guys!

You take the wheel off and the plastic liner of the fender and remove the lower air box. Then you put the filter on the pipe before you put it back together.

i bought one too a month or two ago, and it seems like the pipe was a little short (had to use my SRI and add the other pipe onto it, CAI elbow was too big lol) and the filter is barely hanging on the end, idk if this is how they are all cut/bent?

Hey Rabbit. I think that I got the same Honda CAI Kit that you installed with the blue filter.... Did you keep the blue filter or replace it with a K&N? I installed my CAI today and it made a noticable difference...just wondering if getting a K&N would make any difference.
