i found a guy up in halifax, kinda far, but he specialises aparently in Vauxhall engines and conversions. ive sent him an email to see what he would charge for the conversion.
around where i live no one does fab work for my car.. they wont touch it unless its jap import or a german... i hateeee it...!

if i could find someone to make me the axels and any metal work needed i can figure out and play with the rest.

if anyone is willing to do the metal work i.e axels and anything else that would probably be needed i am willing to pay so long as its a decent price. or if you know anyone who will.. after checking all the specs it looks like im 80% going in the vxr 1.6t direction. mpg, power and aftermarket parts are all there....

its not about making anything. that block shares the 1.6 in the aveo in the usa, so you just need the correct mounts. that transmission goes in as well you just need the correct axles. not fabrication, just informed shopping.

from what i have been looking into, it should even plug into an 09 aveo body harness. but that cannot be verified by me. but i am also trying to find a pin out from 09 to 07 to see if it they have the same plug.

so let me get this straight... i have an 04 daewoo kalos, which il be converting to a manual kalos by swapping it with a wrekd one. then il be buyin a 08 corsa vxr engine and gearbox and swaping that in. so the issue would be engine mounts and possibly adapting it to the kalos's engine bay.. which should only be retty much drilling holes for mounting and possibly making an adaptor plate or 2...

so now i just need to find out which cars axels would work with it, would this also apply to the drive shafts?

so in theory the only customisation in fact would be... gauges and electronics i.e wiring them up as im guessing they would hav diff looms

from my understanding, there will be no drilling holes, no making adapter plates. it will either bolt up, or (in your case) you will need the 09 1.6l engine mounts.

the transmission goes in, it uses the same shifter, clutch pedal etc. but you will not need the whole car.. unless you want it for the dash harness and panels..

the axles will just be finding the correct axles. manual yes, but just as you can find the axles to put the m32 into the aveo, (might be the same axles for this) there will be axles that will work.. if not it might just mean swapping knuckles, or outer cvs.. not getting into making custom axles from scratch. your swapping in a similar drivetrain platform.

the only plug (if your aveo was already manual) that would need matched is the body harness plug to the computer. but since all of us have a "vauxhall" engine design already, the wires in that plug might be correct and it will just plug in.. but that needs verified..

like i said i could tell you if i had a corsa vxr, but the closest one is far far away.. and you guys over there dont have the 1.6 aveo? so its not a direct comparison.. but everything "matches"

ok thats all simplified everything for me, thanks alot man seriously.. i would have never even attempted this if it wasnt for you.
in that case in about 2-3 months once i have saved about £2-3,000 im gona go for it and make a start.
for now im going to try hunt around and do some diginng around, to see if i can find any more info regarding suitable axels if not itl be trial an error when i get the engine and tranny.
between now and then im just gona read up as much as i can regarding engine swaps..
from what ive read as well the 1.6 vxr gives out a nice 189 or 204 bhp spec depending on the model.
juuust outa curiosity.. wouldnt i need to strengthen anything.. seeing as thats almost double if not more bhp ....

hey, i called up a place which do engine conversions, and he said i shouldnt go with the 1.6t vxr engine and the c20let will be much easier and cheaper.
he said that i would need to use all the wiring from the vxr for some random stuff he mentioned which i just forgot now that ive come to write it up, but it didnt really make sense to me..
but im not bothered 2ltr instead of 1.6 im not complaining.. so long as it works he said hes going to charge me £800 roughly for labour.. do you think thats worth it.. or shall i try and do it my self.. that £800 includes converting my auto to a manual.. but i will supply all the parts becuase i want fresh new or properly reconditioned parts not old ratty parts and he agreed to do it that way.

so i assume itl cost me about £2,000 - £2,500 maybe £3000 max and then £800 for labour.

he quoted me some crazynes for the vxr swap and i forgot that already.

so would you think thats worth it? and in your expert opinion is the c20let better than the vxr's 1.6? or should i still try and go for the vxr swap no matter what.

my main aim was just a more powerful engine, manual and has to be turbo stock..

i think the c20let would be super as if found LOAAAADDDSSS of after market goodies including a 350bhp remap and goodies but i wouldnt add it cos i think my car would just vapourise LOL... but ye.. im just out for opinions now..

      thanks in advance

as long as the drivetrain is newer than your car, or the same year, go for it.

i want the vxr 1.6 because of the novelty, no one else would have it, it would still get great fuel mileage, and its @200hp stock. chipped is double what my aveo has now. And it looks like the factory engine in my 09.

i could do a cobalt ss (closest thing to the c20let we have) but it would require more fabrication. more wiring. and more headaches.

the price of the swaps are about the same.

with 350 hp you will want bigger/better brakes.. since your using the whole drivetrain, everything else should be good enough.

I just wanted to take this moment to apologize for some of the drool that will be coating this thread if that motor goes into an aveo.

been looking into this last night, if the c20let works for him, we can do it too, i believe we have a version of it available in the saab 2.0t. less hp than the cobalt ss but more vauxhall related it seems.
