      Magnaflow?

Just wondering if anyone out there is running any type of magnaflow exhaust. The parts guy at work says it's my best bet for a nice, smooth exhaust note. I don't want any ricer, fart can noise so i'm nervous to buy a muffler without getting some kind of idea about the sound.

it might sound better, but its also the engine that makes the sound and you can put magnaflow on to it will will still not be muscle car rumble
Its more fun to drive a slow car fast, rather than drive a fast car slow!

Ya, I'm not expecting a rumble but I don't want it to sound like a hopped up sewing machine either. Just a smooth note, not too high pitched.

take the stock muffler off and see if you like it. If you do, get a shop to fabricate an exhaust pipe from the muffler flange back. That's how mine is.

Could you post the link? I didn't have any luck finding it on YouTube.

      Re: Magnaflow?

I would reccomend AGAINST getting a Magnaflow, mainly because aside from the hype, it's just a fancy looking straight-through, with very little cound cancellation, so in the end you get a fart can, just not as loud, and not as high pitched...

If you really want an anti-fart can, get a flowmaster...

Specifically a 60 series flowmaster (*** DO NOT GET PURSUADED BY THE MUFFLER SHOP TO GET A 40 SERIES, YOU -WILL- REGRET IT! DEMAND A 60 SERIES ONLY, THE 40 SERIES IS FLOWMASTER'S 'ALL PURPOSE' MUFFLER***) Getting it done, muffler, piping and the tip set me back about $300...

      My proof?

Listen to the magnaflow on a civic: http://www.magnaflow.com/04sound/sports ... launch.htm

Then listen to my car with a 60 series flowmaster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RA203a3gJ_k

PS It sounds better when it's not in park, it sounds so mellow and deep, and it's so pleasent... 60 Series flowmasters are specifically designed for sport compacts to significantly cancel out the high pitched 'fart can' sounds. You can't hide those sounds like a magnaflow does, you can only cancel them out.

PPS The only problem with a flowmaster 60 series is it only comes in 1 size and shape, and it wasn't designed to fit on an aveo, however if you are really careful you might be able to squeeze it in the old muffler's spot, for my car I put it in the tunnel under the car so I could get it as a side pipe because of my project I have planned for the space where the old muffler was.
