i'm jsut concerned with keeping it cylindrical and not messing it up. i personally wouldnt mind if there was a manufactured larger bore throttle body made for our cars.

Missing our beloved 1st gen Aveos everyday!
Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver!!
04 Aveo (mine gone but never forgotten)
07 Aveo 5 (wifes car gone but never forgotten)
02 Suburban (Eats gas stations as snacks)
12 Cruze Eco 6MT (46mpg daily? Holy crap!)
12 Sonic 2LT (Wifeys new wheels)
Chevoo-1/2 Chevy, 1/2 Daewoo. I mean like WTF?
I heard a Daewoo Nubira one will fit in Aveo. But I cannot confirm as those nubira they were scrapped in my country - singapore were either melted or exported. Seldom had their parts put up for sale since Honda/Toyota takes up 80% of the car population here. Daewoo is a rare brand here.
i am probably going to leave the tb alone for now except maybe sharpen the edges slight so they aren't so blunt.... almost done the rough sanding the top have smooth. its a pain in the butt because you have to go slow or the plastic will just melt and attach some where else. I will get pics up when I am done with that.
Does any mind posting how to do the ecu relearning process or a link to it? for when i get this all done
oh and thats on here somewhere, now where did i see it...?Originally Posted by AVE0SAM
ill see if i can find it for ya.
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.
This is the idle learn procedure. I think the ECU starts relearning automatically after a reset.
1- unhook the -ve connector of the battery or the ECU's fues (check your manual for the correct fuse).
2- step on the brakes so that the brakes light drains any stored power in the car's electrical system.
3- put back the - ve connector of the battery.
4- turn the ignition key to on for 5 seconds (do not start) then back off for 3 consecutive times
5- start the engine.
6- Allow engine to warm to normal operating temp
7- turn on AC for 10 sec, off for 10 sec.
8- if you have an automatic, repeat 7 in D with the brake on.
9- turn off the car.
Here's the OBDII Driving cycle do the following:
1- Cold Start. In order to be classified as a cold start the engine coolant temperature must be below 50C (122F) and within 6C (11F) of the ambient air temperature at startup. Do not leave the key on prior to the cold start or the heated oxygen sensor diagnostic may not run.
2- Idle. The engine must be run for two and a half minutes with the air conditioner on and rear defroster on. The more electrical load you can apply the better. This will test the O2 heater, Passive Air, Purge "No Flow", Misfire and if closed loop is achieved, Fuel Trim.
3- Accelerate. Turn off the air conditioner and all the other loads and apply half throttle until 88km/hr (55mph) is reached. During this time the Misfire, Fuel Trim, and Purge Flow diagnostics will be performed.
4- Hold Steady Speed. Hold a steady speed of 88km/hr (55mph) for 3 minutes. During this time the O2 response, air Intrusive, EGR, Purge, Misfire, and Fuel Trim diagnostics will be performed.
5- Decelerate. Let off the accelerator pedal. Do not shift, touch the brake or clutch. It is important to let the vehicle coast along gradually slowing down to 32km/hr (20 mph). During this time the EGR, Purge and Fuel Trim diagnostics will be performed.
6- Accelerate. Accelerate at 3/4 throttle until 88-96 km/hr (55-60mph). This will perform the same diagnostics as in step 3.
7- Hold Steady Speed. Hold a steady speed of 88km/hr (55mph) for five minutes. During this time, in addition to the diagnostics performed in step 4, the catalyst monitor diagnostics will be performed. If the catalyst is marginal or the battery has been disconnected, it may take 5 complete driving cycles to determine the state of the catalyst.
8- Decelerate. This will perform the same diagnostics as in step 5. Again, don't press the clutch or brakes or shift gears.
well i got all the rough sanding done. i will takes pics when I get home, but theres a section in the top part that has bumps that i cant sand flat because I am afraid I will go thru the plastic. So when I get home today I will probably fill in the gaps there and flatten that part out that way. I don't know yet what I will be using to fill it but my dad said he had something and I will let you guys know what it is incase you want to do it too. I also started rounding off the exit out of the top....total pain in the butt because i cant fit the air tools in there and sanding it by hand takes a while. another thing I didnt think about before I started was how rough the plastic will be (even after wetsanding) compared to how smooth to the touch is was before, but I think I can fix that by spraying the inside with something to seal it.
I am probably going to order the filter tuesday and check some stores for the plastic tubing I need. I have a lot more free time on my hands now after work so this project should come together rather quickly, but I don't wan to rush things and do a half ass jobs. I'd rather get it just right. I know its just an intake but every little bit helps.
just happen to be browsing the internet for the K&N replacement air filter and on autopartswarehouse.com they have two different ones listed....one being about $40 and the other for about $55, different part numbers too. is there like a replacement K&N and a high performance replacement K&N...or are they just going to charge me more for the same thing because I think higher price means better performance
heres the link: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...588+9862+11920
edit: I researched a little on the official k&n site and they only have one filter listed for the aveo so I am thinking that the more expensive one might just come with a cleaning kit which i already have, but who knows. If anyone else knows what the deal is let me know.
just get the part number u need for the filter off the official kn site and buy that one. no need for extra "stuff"

I dont think they normally come with the recharge kit. Mike has the right idea tho
yea i am just gonna go to the local parts store with the manufactures part number...thanks for the advice
