Pull the cover off and remove the spark plugs from the housing and if you are saving them make sure you mark them to go back in with. You will need to release them from the coil pack on the side as well.

The picture above is after you remove the cover. You will want to keep the removal of the head bolts to pretty much the last part. Working from the from remove the exhaust manifold bolts. Remove the nuts from the inside to the out. Name: exhaust manifold 2.jpg

This picture will help you out.

I have so far removed the cover already as well as the manifold bolts. I also removed upper and lower hoses on the radiator houses with the water pump that the top hose connects to. removed air cleaner box, splash guard inside passenger side wheel area and top cover on timing belt. I have not yet removed the pulley or engine mount as I'm not sure what's my next step. I'm trying to make sure I have everything removed from the cylinder head so that its ready to be pulled.

you will want to make sure you remove the vacumm hoses that are marked and remove the nuts and screws from the intake. These cover the fuel injectors. You need to remove the wiring harness to the injectors and you do not need to disconnect the fuel line from the injector rail just pull them out and set them to the side. Name: Intake.jpg

Make sure the EGR is unplugged as well. It is located on the right side of the head. Be careful with the stainless steel line. Name: EGR.jpg

If you keep the intake on there are two screws located in the back on a bracket that will have to be removed from the manifold.

this is a picture of the bolt holes on the back of the manifold. Should give you an ideal where they are located.
