      need to know

im getting parts together for an exhaust redo and im going 2" all the way from the exhaust manifold with a catco catalytic converter and a flowmaster 60 series muffler, im buying the converter and muffler and im letting them do all the rest.

but before i do this i need to know about moving the catalytic converter and if muffler shops will normally move the O2 sensor because on the stock catalytic converter it looks like it would have to be moved and rewired.

im not sure about this but i want the stock converter moved from the engine bay for sure for cooling and performance reasons.

can anyone lend me their 2 cents and give me a heads up here?

catalytic converter is not in the engine bay, that thing right after the header is a resonator

no that is the catalytic converter, according to the service manual.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

you are right, its weird, i have 2 big books for the aveo with every diagram, and in the exaust diagram its called a front resonator, but after that they refer to it as a catalytic converter (guess thats what happens when the book is translated from korean).

PS: what is the diff betwin resonator and a muffler?

resonator has a flow through design, just like performance mufflers. Resonators don't add any back pressure, they are simply there to cancel some noise. Stock mufflers usually aren't flow through, add a lot of back pressure to systems and limit velocity but cancel more noise.

this is all good to know but it still doesnt answer my question of whether or not the O2 sensor needs to be moved and if most shops would do that much work

      maybe this could help...

or if not there is enough slack in the wiring to move the sensor to under the oil pan and it'll still read right

      y2daniel,

That is a good sounding exhaust. What kind of muffler do you have on it?
