Before you replace it, grab your lower and upper radiator hose to make sure coolant is actually flowing through when its not supposed to.
If it is bad, I'd roll the dice on another cheaper one. Thermostats are very inexpensive items normally. Never had a bad one. I've had them go bad, but never bought a bad one.
