Rebuilt both shift solenoid A and B popped them back in, changed my filter, filled her up and still no 3-4th gear, will look at the wiring, or buy a new solenoid
Did you test the solenoid when it was out of the trans?
I did check the ohms it was at 26 and also I checked it with a battery and it clicked. When I took it apart I did notice it did not have a spring inside, maybe that is why it is stuck ON. I read that my TCM may need to get reset for the transmission to sync back up.
So finally a new solenoid came, will drain the ATF and see how the new one functions, but I'm afraid the TCM is messed up we shall see tomorrow.
Now trying to figure out which solenoid is A and which one is B? One is connected by a white wire the other one is connected by a black one.Anyone have an insight?
The check engine refuses to come on yet I still cannot shift past 2nd gear. Well at least I can bike more now.
Wish I could help more, but I don't know a ton about auto transmissions. I guess I'd try to verify the solenoid is getting power? Make sure there isn't a short or something.
I did check that it is getting power and it is, I am reluctant to take it to the dealer. I don't think it in limp mode but it does not want to shift past 2nd gear. Just revs like I'm in neutral.
What's the history of this current problem? How long ago did it start, any prior different symptoms or problems? Any recent work done? What year is you aveo and how many miles does it have?
well it started when I did and oil change last month on my 2007 aveo5 LS (83000 miles). I accidentally drained the tranny instead of the oil pan and added 4 quarts of oil. It started smoking furiously and did not shift right. Got home and changed the trans filter and added fresh ATF, ran the codes P0700 and P0752, ordered a shift solenoid and swapped it out, still the same dilemma. I also cleaned out the vac system and throttle body of the oil, ect.. I am thinking maybe some oil spewed out and lodged itself someplace that is affecting the transmission from shifting into 3rd. the only prior experience i had a few months back only once I stopped at a stop sign and the car stalled out and it showed code P2135 I cleaned the connector and it went away.
If I'm understanding correctly, you drove it some distance with 8 quarts of oil in the engine, and no tranny fluid in the pan. If so, that's WAY beyond anything I'm familiar with, and I recommend that you take it to the best transmission shop you can find. Explain exactly what happened and let them take a look at it. There's also the question of what the extra oil did to the engine, but I guess you'll cross that bridge when you get to it.
thank you for your time, I really appreciate it
Is it possible you burnt up the 2nd gear clutch plates?
