      New engine

      Hi All.
I recently threw a piston in my wifes 2004 aveo. I am looking to replace the engine and was wondering if there are any companies that are recommended. I have one company offering a fully remaned engine with 3 year warranty for 1995.00. I am new to fixing cars and the aveo is going to be my project car. I plan on upgrading everything. All help is appreciated.

I'd go with a lower mileage salvage yard engine. I actually did do this when I bought my car with a hole in the block and it only cost me $550 for an engine with 25k miles on it.

What do you mean you're going to upgrade everything?

I have checked with salvage yards in y area and all I can find is 150k miles for 1100.00. I will be upgrading wheels, suspension and anything else I can think of.

i would keep looking ive seen 04-06 engines for 600-800.also you can drop in 07-08 engine its same but need to change intake and throttle from your old engine.for some reason around here the 07 engines are a bit cheaper 500-600 for 80,000 mile engines.guess its supply and demand.also there are auctions that sell wrecked/damaged autos sell around 500-900 dollars, use all good parts than scrap vehicle and get paid 400 dollars in scrap.
