Ruined my wife's tranny in her 08 aveo 4-door, auto. Got a replacement tranny and can't figure out how to remove the front axles out of the old tranny. First time working on a FWD, besides maintance.
How to I remove the darn axles? I'm guessing undo the nut in the front rotor, un bolt the lower ball-joint from the A-arm? Push in? Special tool needed? Do I need to unbolt the top of the knuckle from the strut tube also?

sounds like you have the idea. I can't say how much of the knuckle you need to remove (from strut or not) without know how much room you want to make yourself. Last axle I did, i did it on a lift, It made it really easy. the last time i remember doing on on the ground, i know i had to tear a bunch more stuff out to get it situated.
Thanks, i Figured it out. Needed 32 mm socket for axle nut, trouble is now getting it in square/straight. No matter how I do it, its binds......any tips? Have had it out three times.....Quote:
