Castrol Import MV-ATF.........$6.59.......Specifically says on the bottle it is safe for ESSO LT 71141

...My owners manual says only to use ESSO LT 71141...

      Guess what I bought?

You can use whatever you want....but as much as you're pushing dexron III on me you must have some sort of tie to it or something....
Nobody is "pushing" anything. This is a discussion about what ATF fluids are compatible and no one is forcing you to agree with anything said.

I keep saying if it doesn't say it's ok to use on the bottle I'm not comfortable using it....what did you invent it or something? lol
I only said what *I* use, and explained why. What is your problem with that? I don't care at all what YOU use, as I already said; "you can do as you please" .

Your making snotty remarks only demonstrates that you aren't capable of handling a topic of discussion in a mature way.

Sorry if I'm coming off snotty....wasn't trying to....just felt like you weren't answering the specific questions I was asking and were trying to get me to use what you use...but anyway...

I spent the afternoon working on the timing belt, pretty easy job overall, hit a few snags though (getting the crank pulley bolt out, and changing the WP without taking the cam gears off, and the cam lock tool I bought didn't fit). I have one "hard" thing left to do then the rest is cake, but I'm stuck as of now....I just need to tension the belt, but my pliers won't work, I've tried for 30 min or so, heck maybe an hour, I need the special tool, or something....but I'm doubting it's locally available, right?

I'm thinking of cutting one out of a piece of steel, but just wanted to ask you guys what you thought? The wife sort of needs the car monday, but in all reality she could take my truck, and I could ride the buell....so I could order one I found online (42mm crow foot wrench....can someone confirm that's correct?) and it'd probably be here for next weekend....

Well several hours of fighting that water pump....I got it all done....all I need to do in the morning is simple stuff.....put serpentine belt back on, intake, tire, etc....

Sounds like you're past this, but believe the wrench should actually be 41mm... though 42mm would likely work, too.

Thanks rodo....next time I do this job I'm going to buy one....I probably spent over 2 hours fighting the WP yesterday....with the exception of not having a few tools I needed, and fighting a few things that held me up, this was by far the easiest timing belt I've ever changed...(hope it starts later today lol)

Just an update that the whole job is done....everything is great now. Old belt was slightly stretched/longer than the new. Tension on it seems better as well (from just pressing on it). The engine was starting to surge randomly(usually once you kicked the AC compressor on), and that has gone away...I assume the tensioner was going out. Spent about $200 max total on everything, and am very happy, easy job overall just ended up fighting a few things so used up a whole day and then some...
