Oil gauge will not reach the regular position

The oil gauge will not climb while I am driving, but when the car is parked it will return to the right position. It has only been doing it it for a month now and is getting old because of the cold weather; it never gets warm enough while driving. Anyone have some information for me before I take it to the dealership?

Umm, there is no oil gauge in the Aveo. What you are talking about is the water temperature gauge. The Aveo only has a oil light. If you don't drive the car long enough to warm up, then, no, it won't reach running temperature like in the summer.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Im sorry I don't know my terms but what it is doing is only reaching the quarter way mark instead of right below the half way mark line while I'm driving.

fill your coolant reservoir with oil, then your oil will read on that gauge. Problem solved.

its winter time, even with a fully functioning coolant system, the gauge will read lower than in summer.
but with the last response i got i'm not helping him. I would be better off explaining thermal dynamics to my 3 yo.

i think she would get it faster than him.
