      Glad you got it taken care of. However your description of the work, along with the cost would indicated that it was a valve cover gasket replacement, not a head gasket job. It's very common for the VCG to leak on the older Aveos.

      Yeah, you're right, I misspoke it was the valve cover gasket. I had no idea the issue was so common. Are there any other common things I should look for aside from the timing belt, the fuse box, and valve cover gasket issues?

      Seen more than a few posts regarding throttle body issues (mine was replaced as well)....not as bad as the timing belt or VCG but tearing or splitting of the air intake hose is another issue you might want to keep an eye on.

      It usually cracks on the underside in the bellows which makes it undetectable unless you are looking for it.

      Also, if your car has the plastic thermostat housing change it NOW with a metal one.

      Ding, Ding, Ding....good one! Yes, very important to change as noted by various posters on threads dealing with plastic thermostat housing blowouts.
