Sound familiar... looks like it was recalled in Canada but GM fought it in the US, like i suspected their arrogant selves would do. Wouldn't expect anything better from them...

I just changed plugs and wires on my 06 Aveo Special Value yesterday and found the same thing. Oil on the threads but not the electrode, weird. I check the tailpipe and no oil smell and the little bugger never burns a drop. I think I may chalk it up to freaky unless something else happens. I drive 500 miles per week and not ever a problem but I wil be checking into better fuel economy/power.
Sounds like a leaky valve cover gasket to me.
Yeah. Or spill over from changes. Oil leeches so it creaping into the spark plug threads is not a surprise. But it could also just be sitting in the plug galley.
Normal for most older cars as they approach middle age. Just as with people, we tend to drip more as we get older. :mrgreen:Quote:

Just go and replaced the valves top cover gasket.
Bump on old thread. found oil on my plugs today. How do you replace the top cover gasket?
gasket is 35$, i had a friend do mine, hes a mechanic, would have cost 235$ from gm, took about 1.5 hrs cause it has to dry, then u gotta make sure it doesnt leak after wards/
What do you mean it has to dry? is it an RTV sealant type gasket? My wife's is leaking pretty bad, every oil change (~5k miles) I pull the wires and there is a lot of oil sitting in the galley around the plugs. I am going to change it soon (with plugs and wires too) but want to make sure it is straight forward. I am very mechanical, but don't understand why it "has to dry"...
