output shaft speed sensor and trans issue + AC issue -- help please

Hey guys, so admittedly, I did some homework before purchasing this little car, but not deep enough. I had read a partial thread that the code was for the output shaft speed sensor but didn't read far enough in to realize that replacing it doesn't help after the little plastic gear inside is stripped.

So question - I have this issue evidenced by a dead speedometer and the p0722. Additionally, I don't have 4th gear.

Is it even worth a shot at replacing the OSSS and maybe doing a couple cycles of drain and fill? Wondering if there is a chance it fixes at least one of my issues.

Second Question - I have no AC. Had a mechanic confirm today that the freon is filled right and the compressor is kicking on. However, he said the low pressure is staying too high (75) and something must be wrong with the compressor anyhow.

Is there an expansion valve or a sensor that could be causing this issue or is the compressor bad?

Thanks for your help. I need to fix or get rid of this and your help can give me some direction.

Good luck on the transmission issue, but the AC does have an expansion valve. It’s bolted to the evaporator and the lines at the firewall. It’s not hard to replace.
this one is for a 2004, maybe it’ll fit your year.

Thanks. Is it likely that is the problem why I'm not getting cold air when the compressor is working and the freon is filled properly?

Yes. Unless there is a blockage in the receiver drier that’s probably not able to be changed without changing the condenser as they’re connected.
