      P2135-TPS sensor issue-08 aveo

So CEL comes on for a day, I go to Autozone and they tell me it's a code P2135. This is what the definition says:

      Definition:
Throttle position sensor (TPS) 1-2 correlation
      Explanation:
The ECM has detected that TPS 1 and TPS 2 disagree more than 4.5 percent for less than 1 second
      Probably Cause:
      1. Poor electrical connection
      2. Failed TPS

CEL went off right after the guy finding the code for me and hasn't returned again in a week. I haven't noticed any issues with the car except some mornings when I'm first pushing on the gas it has a little hesitation but once I'm on the road I have no problems at all with accelerating after stop lights or anything, it's fine while idling, and no stalls.

My question is...will this problem continue to get worse or cause damage somewhere else? Also, the guy said something about cleaning the throttle body and sensor, How do you do this?

      Thanks!

      Chev Aveo 2008 Code P2135

I have an '08 as well with this issue. I notice that nobody has replied to the previous post. I understand the code will come back, as has been the case with my car. I intend to take out the throttle body (see pic) and clean it with TB Cleaner from Canadian Tire.

Does anyone know if the sensor on this throttle body can be replaced? The dealer says the only part they can order is the whole body with new sensors. In Canada, that will be approximately $500 to purchase and $200 in labour.

I have seen videos on YouTube that show sensors can be ordered and replaced without the whole body being replaced. The video link below shows the procedure for a Chev truck, not aveo.

You can't rely on doc for another vehicle, and even various years of the same model sometimes differ - as it does with Aveo throttle body. TPS for an '08 is built-in to the TB and cannot be replaced. First try removing the TPS sensor connector and cleaning both sides, along with carefully inspecting all of the wires coming into it. If that doesn't help, next try removing the TB and cleaning as you were planning to do. Lastly, never buy parts from a stealership unless there is no other choice (which is rarely the case). Rockauto is selling TBs for the '08 for $100-200 USD, and you could also consider getting one from a U-pull, if there are any available where you live.

Thanks AVGuy for that good advice. Supplementary question, if I may, Does the Aveo go into this so-called "limp" mode? And if so, under what conditions?

Hello. I took the wiring harness off the throttle body, inspected it for defective connections and wires, found none, and replaced the connectors and the problem has not returned.

      Curious

My 2009 went into limp and brought up the same code the other day. Then it drove fine. Then it went into limp mode again yesterday.

I have found 3 possible causes according to the good ol' www:
      - bad wiring
      - bad Throttle Position Sensor
      - bad throttle body

Have you resolved yours yet Markstack?

My code went away by itself. It seems to come on from time to time and then go off. Car is running fine now.

I had this problem on my 2008 Aveo5. Had the throttle body replaced in March 2018. Got the CEL again on New year's eve, en route to work, and it was running sluggishly. After work, I go to Auto Zone, and sure enough, it's our old friend the throttle position sensor. Took it back to the shop today. Don't think it's supposed to fail again less than ten months after replacement
