PCV line appears glued to valve cover

I took off my valve cover in my 2004 aveo to replace the gasket, and as such had to remove the PCV line. There was a big plastic hex nut apparently holding it in place, so I turned that until the hose came loose. Now that I'm re-attaching everything, I note that the hex nut has no thread and nowhere to grab onto. Both the nut and the part of the valve cover it supposedly attaches to have some hard black gunk in them that looks like residue glue/epoxy. Anyone know anything about this? Should I just use epoxy to reattach it?
