Is there anything that can be done for my 1.6L 2010 Aveo to boost Power/performance that wont cost a bundle? I've read CAI are a waste of $$ and just a gimmick?
Thanks!

a cai and a different muffler greatly improve throttle response. its not high HP numbers, but it improves drivability imho.
I don't know any car the a cai is a waste. Only a few cars have all out performance in mind from the factory that would null the benefits of adding a cai to a car that is also tuned for economy.
I did NGK BKR6EIX laser iridium plugs, 8.5mm Magnacore wires, and a drop-in K & N filter and my Aveo felt a little peppier. Simple mods ya know?
I like my coppers. I have not even performed the recall. I am due for a set though, My first set made it almost 20k miles.. and were shot. I am about 30k on this set, and lets just say I neglected changing them in the regular interval. I often think the recalls are because people are unwilling to change plugs that often in this day and age. But a fresh set of coppers does wonders.
I'm told I need some special tool to remove the coil to change the spark plugs is this true? I have a 2010 1.6L
i dont recall anything super special, its just a torx or allen? i cant remember exactly...
Yep just a t30 or t35 torx iirc
OK, thanks guys :)
you could always do what I did and get a trifecta tune, I haven't regretted spending the money for mine yet. quicker throttle response, easier to reach our top speed, better gas mileage, just all around fix to our cars lol, unfortunately though, not sure I'll be keeping my tune once my turbo is on, too hard to remote tune for it.
my buddy is a GM Tech/ engineer, and he knows how to tune, so that's taken care of, I had an old turbo which is the perfect size for the project, just needs a rebuild, so pretty much all I need is the manifold, and figure out cooling, fueling, and getting oil/ water to it. all in all it might run me around 1000$. We'll see, hopefully the automatic trans can hold the power, after all its a smaller turbo and it will be limited to 8psi. So not like it's going to add THAT much power.
Is the proper gap for the spark plugs .044?
thats sounds way too expensive to me..
This will bolt on, with a set of injectors, the maf, an oil line (or more) and the ecu.. you could be up an running...

our ecu is turbo ready, in fact, or might be the same as that one, however, I have looked into this header and they don't ship to the us, and if they could, it would be expensive as hell just to ship.
