You'd have to have a set of cams sent out for custom grinding.
uff is the best n/a engine performance, itīs a shame donīt make it....
Light weight cam gears will improve on response and acceleration?
Must the crank pulley be change to those that are light weight as well?
the more weight you take off the engine the better.. within reason.
i would like to know who. I can see no reason NOT to use the crank pulley on an aveo.
Sorry i don't understanding the thread, the best N/A modificatin is the cam, for one s1, it atomatically remove the OEm rev limiter, with the intake and exhaust management....
Te custom pulley came balancing separatlely without afecting the total balance of the car...
Check the thread from pulley ECOtec 1,6L....
Ok... cam gears and crank pulley in my "To-Do" list now... hopefully can do it by Jan.
where would you have to go to get the cams regrinded? a machine shop? or a speciality type shop?
a cam shop.
Regrinding the stock cams could make it into a performance cam? As in better cams?
you would need relobed, but yes ,anything could be done.
Out of curiosity, does changing to light weight cam and/or light weight crank pulley helps in fuel comsumption?
it would make sense, less weight takes less energy to move
it has less effect than a crank shaft pulley or flywheel, the valve train turns 1/2 as fast as the crank, and it would be "like" lightening the pulley on an accessory. The real drag or friction force on the cam shafts / valve train is the opening of the valves and springs.
Late to the party, but: gettinng a lumpy lump cam is probably the best way to increase power in an N/A motor, short of boring.
Do we have any figures for the stock cams? Lift, duration, ramp?
not sure where to find stock cam figures but i have been emailing someone over at High Performance Race Car & Street Car Solutions im just waiting for him to email me back with a list of options
I have changed my stock crank pulley and the 2 cam gears to lightweight ones.
Nice!! Car does feels better.
However, there is a vibration felt when I step a little more gas at say... 2500rpm, I can feel the car vibrate before it change to the next gear at say... 3000rpm. The vibration seems to be coming from the lower front of the firewall. (just in case... my car is a right hand drive).
Any idea why?
Maybe something is loose? Where did you get the cam gears at, Xaiogory?
Sorry, but who is Xaiogory?
Anyway, went to someone else for a second opinion, was inform that the vibration could be from the light weight crank pulley (without harmonic damper).
Is that valid? and if it is, would it be alright if I revert it back to the original crank pulley while still keeping the light weight cam gears/ pulleys?
