dont buy those cheap chips from ebay, youll screw all kinds of things up.
there is now real chip for the aveo, but you can do like an apexi neo (i think it is called) to tweek your fueling but you will want a wideband o2 and dyno to get hp out of it.
Unless you want trouble I'm strongly against it... Whether 5$ or 100$ there is no such thing as a simple add-on for more power.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
Guy at local preformance shop said he would install a piggy back chip and do the tunning for around 1,200 bucks. will just have to wait until i can afford a turbo kit upgrade
many thanks.

any specfics on the tune? DO you have an auto or manual?Originally Posted by speedricer

that preformance shop charges $100 per hr (they do dyno testing as well), to much for me tho.

100 buks and hour to tune your car is a good price, specially if that includes dyno time.
Some places charge up to 150 dollars to simply put your car on the dyno, then they charge a flat hourly rate to tune it.
Getting your car professionnaly tuned is very expensive no matter what route you take.

i wonder though how much power could be made, like a money/hp ratio so to speak
did he make any comments on how much extra power you could see?
all those chips do is trick the intake sensor to make the computer dump fuel.. sometimes the o2 sensor will adjust somewhat and lean out the mixture back to proper ratios.. other times it will dump fuel "unnoticed" by the computer management.
fuel has a direct relationship to the power so sure you will feel some more power, until your cat clogs from the unburned fuel and the exhaust pressure built up in the manifold bends valves.. then the continued fuel flow hydrolocks the engine.
he said it would give it about 12 more hp.
don't know what chip he uses. will get more details on chip and tuning process.
Peace
