      Potential Transmission/Accellerator Issue 06 Aveo???

      Hey all,

This morning when I went to leave for work, I threw my car into reverse backed out of my driveway, and then threw my car into drive, and coasted down my street... I mean...when I gave it juice, nothing happend, it just coasted at drive idle speed.

I put it in park and it started shaking, like there was a bad plug, or wire connection.

I noticed that my hold light was on (not blinking...solid) so I turned it off, and saw that my CEL was on as well. I turned off the car, and checked the gas cap (because those stupid things can be a big giant pain in the man parts), started my car, and off it went...driving as normally as a car with 76K and fairly regular maintenance drives.

So I made it to work (bout 6 miles), and worked all day, and went out to start my car, and the same thing happened. Turned it off to re-start...no change...so I coasted to my mechanic (about 2.5 miles) with my hazards on, an noticed (toward the end of the drive) that when I was stopped at a light or on the side of the road letting someone pass, the car would start shaking after arond ten seconds.

This past summer I replaced my:
Air Filter, Spark Plugs and Wires, Timing Belt (kit), Serpentine Belt, Oil Cover Gasket, Oil and Filter and some front end stuff that would have nothing to do with the issue at hand.

That story told; Has anyone had a similar issue? I read the stories about the 09's losing power while driving, but nothing quite like this.

Any word would be greatly appreciated as I would LIKE to know what I'm in for. I mean... if my car is f**ked...I'm f**ked... living in the burbs and all.

I dropped it off and they're getting the codes.
I wanted to see if anyone had the same problem so I had an IDEA of what I was in for.

Your car is definitely in limp home mode, could be a TON of different things. When it happened to me it was as simple as the ignition relay crapping out. Not really much we can help with without the codes, due to all the different things it could be

Im betting the MAP sensor. If the xmsn doesnt know the engine speed then it will go to "Limp Mode" every time. $80 at Auto Zone or $40 at Rock Auto. Map sensor, the size of a black zippo is on top of engine slightly right of center with one bolt secureing it. Probably a P0131 code but thats only a sence of direction with 4 codes more to boot.
If its not that then its probably the vaccum line going to it or a vaccum leak.

It ended up being a vacuum leak.

The computer cuts the throttle to the engine when it's being read as "wide open" so no more damage is caused.

Thanks for the help...sorrt it took me so long to reply.
