      Power Steering Groan

I have an 08 with 16,000 miles on it recently (I live in minnesota) it has been very cold the high today was -10F when I first start the car the power steering pump makes a god awful groan almost embarrassing it lasts for about two minutes after I start it my question is has anyone experienced this with their cars or is this a possible warranty issue Thanks in advance Nick

If it never does it again, once the temps get better, I wouldnt worry about it. If it's a cronic noise however, yeah, go to the dealer. Sure its a warranty issue. The pump shouldnt be noisy.

there's ur problem. and u said it went away after a couple minutes?? thats because the fluid got warm and the noise went away, there shouldn't be a problem with a new car with only 16k on the odometer

at that temp i imagine our power steering fluid was frozen.

i have some frozen power steering fluid in my garage, and its a balmy +7 degrees here.

It's normal for any vehicle at low temps. The fluid is to thick for the pump at first but after it warms up, it thins out some. Just remember if you drive it as soon as you start it like that, it forces p/s fluid out of the reservoir, so it will eventually need to be topped up.
