I don't know how much difference the hi perf cat will make in the overall performance, though I would imagine it would make a slight difference.
My opinion though, is if you are going to go, go all the way. I don't know if it will help at all, but it certianly couldn't hurt to replace the cat with the exhaust. Not to mention, if everything is new, that means you don't have to worry about it.
Of course, that is just my opinion.
4 wheels, 4 doors, 4 cylinders, 8 speakers, and 1 loose nut on the steering wheel driving the car!

if ur gonna put in a high flow cat u should also have a custom header made since the stock cat is part of the exhaust manifold, i took mine out when i put the header in and when i get the money to finish off the exhaust i'll put a cat down stream so it'll pass emission
Also, you have to go to a shop willing to do it for you. I beleive you need to have at least 80k miles before a shop can consider replacing your cat. I go to a shop run by some Mexicans, of which, I think the only legal one there is the owner but I dont care because they hook it up for me. They did a few pieces for me for free. But do consider that before you order one. There is always a way around the laws though. Like say a peice of road debris like a hammer and a screw driver happened to fly up and put a hole in your cat...

I think I know where to find those type of debris.Originally Posted by mikedudley17
Here is a question i havent asked yet. Has anyone had a custom header made for them? (someone please say yes) And how much did it cost?
The manifold and cat are seperate pieces. When I got my highflow cat put on, I placed it under the oil pan for more room. We then used a temp gun to make sure that the new cat wasnt going to overheat the oil, and it was good. Check out my old youtube aveo video http://youtube.com/watch?v=m_EhxJHRu3s to see what I did. But yeah you need to find a shady shop to put the new cat on unless your old cat got "damaged." You will also need to upgrade your flex pipe as well, I just used one from a Saturn because it happened to be the size I neededOriginally Posted by mkt8891
Flexpipe?? sorry im still new
In my video it's a 41 seconds. Basically a flex pipe is used to keep the whole exhaust from moving when the engine shifts in it's positionOriginally Posted by melficersx
if you look under your car, you can see it coming right off the cat. it looks like a bunch of braided aluminum foil strips put together. It does like what dan said by allowing the pipe to be able to bend and twist when put under load. you can move it a bit when its bolted on there. go ahead, take a look. its right before the oil pan.

Oooh!!! i see now. Thanks for the explination. Would you say that having it under the oil pan is the best place to put it dan?
