question on intakes...

so i was thinking about getting an AEM CAI. but was wondering if it would be worth getting it since i already have the AVEOSAM cold air intake.

you think i would see an increase or or so little i wont be able to tell.

one thing i noticed is the aem is a smaller diameter than the one i have now.

i know the length and diameter and bends have a lot to do with the power you get and where you get it. do you think AEM actually took the time to design it well for the best performance, or just slapped one together?


for those of you that have an AEM intake....
how far down in the wheel well is the filter?

AEM always designs it for best performance.
And the AEM intake goes down lower into the wheel well i believe its a lot like the intake i have....the colder the air the better so the further from the engine you get the better.

i can get it for 140, i just dont know if it will be worth it....

honestly i couldnt tell ya if itll be worth it or not... but i feel that it wouldnt be much if any gain from switching... unless the aveosam one you have leaksair at the joins.

be aware that with CAI u should install a bypass valve to save you from heartache down the track

The only good thing about the AEM is that they are carb legal! unless you live somewhere where it is strict emissions, there wont be much differrence.

there wont be much of a differnece, but its nice to have the diameter match the tb, which is 2''

i would if i wasnt planning on moving my intake in 9 months or so anyways and having to make a custom one. lol

Smaller diameter = higher velocity = more torque. That being said, if you used the same filter on both your home-made intake and the AEM and dynoed them side by side, I doubt you'd see very much difference.
I don't know if anyone has dynoed the aveo before and after a CAI, but for argument's sake say you get 4 hp gain with the homemade CAI. You MIGHT, if you're lucky, get 10% increase with the AEM i.e. 4.4 hp gain. Woo...

on such a small engine the actual gain is very small. also that it is n/a and not f/i....f/i cars take a lot better to the intake.
