That is the code everyone gets when they put in a new engine. You will most likely need to go to a dealer and have a 'crankshaft relearn procedure' done. I had to do this when I replaced the engine in my 05 Aveo.

Common causes for a P0300 code are: faulty spark plugs or wires, faulty coil pack, faulty oxygen sensor(s), faulty fuel injector(s), burned exhaust valve, faulty catalytic converter(s), stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages, faulty camshaft position sensor and/or a defective computer.

I hope this information is helpful. I encourage you to have the vehicle inspected by a certified technician for additional assistance.

Because I'm not a technician, I am unable to diagnose why you're vehicle is overheating. I would recommend speaking with your dealership for a proper diagnosis. Please keep me posted. Good luck!
